About the role
An established granny flat builder in the residential construction sector is seeking an experienced Architect to join its team.
The business specialises in granny flats, secondary dwellings and low-rise residential projects across NSW.
This is a full-time, hands-on Architect role focused on architectural drafting, plan production and residential documentation across a high-volume project pipeline.
The position is based in Ingleburn, Sydney and requires full-time attendance in the office. Occasional off-site travel may be required for project or site matters.
You will work across multiple projects at different stages, often with changing requirements, design variations and tight timeframes. The role requires someone who can work efficiently at pace, stay ahead of issues and maintain accurate, compliant and buildable documentation as priorities change.
You will also be expected to work confidently across the business's prescribed systems and platforms and contribute to practical improvements in how architectural work is delivered.
Prepare architectural plans and documentation for granny flats, secondary dwellings and other low-rise residential projects.
Produce concept, approval and construction drawings across a high volume of concurrent projects.
Manage plan amendments, design variations and changing project requirements.
Prepare documentation for NSW residential approval pathways, including CDC and DA requirements.
Apply relevant NSW planning controls, BASIX, the National Construction Code and applicable Australian Standards.
Coordinate drawings and technical information with engineers, surveyors, certifiers and other consultants.
Review plans for accuracy, compliance, coordination and constructability.
Identify drafting, design and approval issues early and take action before they affect project delivery.
Prioritise work effectively as project requirements and deadlines change.
Maintain accurate drawing revisions and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide architectural and drafting support during construction where required.
Work consistently across the prescribed systems and platforms used for design, approvals, project coordination and construction-related activities.
Keep project information and documentation accurate and up to date across relevant business systems.
Identify practical improvements to drafting processes, templates, documentation standards and workflow efficiency.
We are looking for an experienced residential Architect with strong drafting and plan production capability who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume business.
You will need:
Current practising registration on the NSW Register of Architects.
Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume granny flat or secondary dwelling business.
Strong hands-on experience producing residential architectural plans and documentation.
Experience preparing approval and construction drawings.
Proven ability to manage multiple residential projects concurrently.
Experience working with frequent variations, revisions and changing priorities.
Advanced BIM and architectural drafting capability.
Strong working knowledge of NSW residential planning and approval requirements.
Working knowledge of BASIX, the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
Experience coordinating consultant and technical documentation.
Practical understanding of residential construction and buildability.
Strong systems capability and the ability to work across multiple prescribed platforms used throughout the business.
Ability to adapt quickly to established systems, workflows and technology requirements.
Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.
Ability to anticipate issues, take initiative and progress work without constant direction.
A practical approach to improving processes and reducing unnecessary rework.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Current Australian working rights.
Ability to work full-time from the Ingleburn office.
The complete Position Description and further role details will be provided to suitable applicants who progress through the recruitment process.
Please submit your current CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant granny flat, residential drafting and architectural documentation experience.
Portfolio examples may be requested as part of the recruitment process.
