Cooks/Food Services Assistants

About the role

Fairview Village is seeking Cooks and Food Services Assistants to join our culinary team on a casual and part time basis. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to creating a welcoming and quality dining experience for our residents. Ideal candidates will bring compassion, attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You’ll play an essential role in food preparation/cooking, maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen and promoting a home like dining environment for our residents.

Hours of Work

Hours of work are casual however there may be potential for part time employment with accordance to rostering requirements.

Food Services Assistants

• Monday to Sunday from 6:30am – 2:00pm/6:30 - 1:00pm.

• Monday to Sunday afternoons from 3:30pm – 7:30pm.

Cooks

• Monday to Sunday from 9:30am - 5:30pm

• Monday to Sunday from 6:30am - 2:30pm

What we're looking for

• Current Food Safety Supervisor or equivalent food handling qualification (or willingness to obtain one)

• Proven experience working as a cook or food services assistant, preferably in an aged care, healthcare, or hospitality setting

• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills

• Ability to follow recipes and adapt cooking methods to accommodate dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets

• Excellent understanding of food hygiene, safety standards, and HACCP principles

• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment and manage time effectively

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 15kg regularly

• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality in all aspects of food preparation and service
