About the role
At O'Brien Boiler Services, we're looking for someone who enjoys fixing things that other people can't.
If you've served as a Marine Technician or worked maintaining mechanical and electrical systems in the Navy or similar role, you'll already understand the type of work we do. Industrial boilers aren't ships—but the mindset is remarkably similar.
Of course, you don't have to be ex-Defence. If you've built your career in industrial maintenance, boilers, process plant or heavy industry and enjoy solving complex problems, we'd love to hear from you .
If you're the person who gets called when no one else can work out what's wrong, likes fault finding more than simply replacing parts, and takes pride in getting equipment back online, you'll fit in well here.
Love the work, don't miss the deployments? We should talk.
Why this role suits ex-KellicksYou'll be working on:
Industrial steam systems
Boilers and burners
Pumps and valves
Pipework
Electrical controls and instrumentation
Fabrication and welding
Planned maintenance
Emergency breakdowns
Fault finding on complex plant
If you're thinking, "That sounds pretty familiar..." you're probably right.
What you'll be doingNo two weeks are the same.
You'll spend most of your time at customer sites across Sydney Metro, with occasional regional travel. This is genuinely a hands-on role.
You're not sitting behind a desk—you'll be the one with the tools, diagnosing problems, making repairs and getting critical plant back online.
The type of person we're looking forWe're a small team, and culture matters.
Sometimes you'll be working alongside experienced technicians.
Other days, you'll roll into a customer's site on your own, assess the situation, troubleshoot the issue and get their plant running again.
We're looking for someone who enjoys that responsibility.
You don't need someone standing over your shoulder.
You back yourself, think logically, communicate well with customers and have a genuine "have a crack" attitude.
We'd rather teach someone who's willing to learn than hire someone who thinks they already know everything.

O'Brien Boiler Services is Australia's leading industrial boiler and steam specialist.
We design, install, service and maintain industrial boiler, steam, hot water and energy systems that keep some of Australia's largest manufacturers, hospitals, food processors and industrial facilities operating safely and efficiently.
Around here, attitude matters just as much as technical ability.
We're looking for people who take pride in their work, enjoy solving problems and genuinely care about doing a good job for their customers and teammates.
Our team is built around five simple values that guide how we work every day:
Be a Good Human – Treat people with respect, honesty and integrity.
Think Like an Owner – Take responsibility, show initiative and back yourself to solve problems.
Keep the Complex Simple – Find practical solutions without overcomplicating things.
Play as One Team – Support your mates, share knowledge and work together to get the job done.
Enjoy the Journey – Have a laugh, celebrate the wins and enjoy working with good people.
Those aren't just words on a wall—they're how we work every day, whether we're in the workshop, on a customer's site or helping each other out in the field.
The work is technical.
The work is varied.
The work actually makes you think.
If you're looking for a job where every day is the same...
This probably isn't it.
For the right person, we're also happy to support you in obtaining your Electrical Contractor qualification, including helping you complete the required supervised hours.
Before you apply...We'll ask you a few quick questions:
Do you meet all of the essential requirements?
Do you have unrestricted Australian working rights?
How many years of hands-on trade experience do you have?
If you've served in Defence, what was your trade or favourite posting?
