People and Culture Business Partner

About the Position

Located in Darwin, Northern Territory, NT Christian Schools is seeking an experienced and relational People and Culture professional to join our team as a People and Culture Business Partner. Available for an immediate or negotiable start, this role offers a unique opportunity to support leaders and employees across our diverse school communities. About the Role

The People and Culture Business Partner provides high-level HR and compliance support across the employee lifecycle within NT Christian Schools. The role ensures accurate People and Culture system management (TechOne), legislative compliance, workforce monitoring, and effective onboarding and offboarding processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Business Partnering Role

• Partnering with principals and school leaders on workforce planning and staffing requirements.

• Advising on employment contracts, awards, enterprise agreements, policies and employment legislation.

• Working closely with the Senior Manager, People and Culture with regards to employee relations matters, including grievances, workplace investigations, misconduct and disciplinary processes.

• Supporting principals with performance management, probation reviews and employee development.

• Advising on leave, salaries, allowances, relocation support and other employment conditions.

• Working with payroll and finance teams to resolve salary, leave, superannuation and allowance matters.

• Supporting teacher attraction and retention, particularly in remote or difficult-to-staff schools.

• Coordinating employer-sponsored migration for eligible teachers and other employees.

• Supporting employee wellbeing, engagement, EAP and workplace health and safety initiatives.

• Ensuring People and Culture practices comply with child-safety standards, safeguarding requirements and mandatory reporting obligations.

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Supporting the recruitment, selection and onboarding of teachers, educators, support staff and school leaders.

• Onboard new staff members into TechOne, ensuring accurate and compliant data entry.

• Prepare employment documentation, contracts, and variations.

• Ensure all pre-employment compliance documentation is completed.

• Support School Campus leaders throughout the onboarding process.

Compliance & Workforce Governance

• Monitor fixed-term contracts to ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 and organisational policies.

• Ensure Positions of Responsibility are appropriately documented and monitored within approved terms.

• Monitor visa conditions for applicable employees and report potential breaches.

• Support audits and governance requirements.

• Ensure employment arrangements align with NTCS policies and legislative obligations.

About You

You are a faith-driven, relational and strategic Business Partner, who is committed to Christian education and excellence in learning outcomes.

Essential Criteria

• A diploma or Tertiary qualification in similar field.

• A committed Christian actively involved in your local church.

• Prove an ability to effectively model Christian values as expressed in the Policies and Procedures of NT Christian Schools and to give an authentic witness to those values.

• Provide reliable support, with strong time management, organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to build positive and productive working relationships with team members, senior staff and clients to achieve shared outcomes.
