Team Lead/Educational Leader - Children's Services

Hours

Part time: 30 hours a week, combination of split and block shifts.

About the role

The Educational Leader in Out of School Hours Care is responsible for leading the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the educational program whilst providing pedagogical leadership within the Service. This role requires the professional skills to guide the assessment and planning cycle, promote reflective practice, and ensure the program reflects children’s interests and meaningful participation. The Educational Leader is responsible for leading, mentoring and supporting educators to deliver engaging, child led experiences that align with the principles and outcomes of the My Time, Our Place Framework.

In working alongside an experienced team, the Educational Leader drives the implementation of a high quality Out of School Hours Care program that meets the expectations of the Approved Provider, families and children. The Educational Leader actively engages with children throughout the program, providing care, facilitating activities and creating meaningful educational experiences that support children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Service's educational program to ensure it reflects the principles and outcomes of My Time, Our Place Framework

• Mentor and guide educators in planning meaningful, engaging experiences that respond to children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs

• Support educators to critically reflect on their practice and program delivery to improve the quality of experiences offered to children

• Ensure the program reflects inclusion, cultural diversity, and the needs of all children attending the Service

• Monitor the quality of program implementation across diverse groups and support improvements where required

• Maintain organised documentation systems that demonstrate the planning cycle, reflective practice, and program evaluation

• Drive the development and ongoing review of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) particularly in areas relating to educational practices and program quality

• Support the Service in Assessment and Rating processes, audits, and regulatory reviews by ensuring documentation and practice reflect high quality programming

• Collaborate with the Director, Assistant Director, and educators to strengthen educational practice across the Service

• Foster a rich play environment consistent with the Framework for School Age Care - My Time, Our Place

About you (essential qualifications and experiences)

• Current and Valid Working with Children Check

• Current HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

• Current CHCPRT025 Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk

• Completion of National Child Safety Training

• A minimum of 2 years' experience in working with children aged 5-12 years in an Out of School Care environment or similar, preferably in a management, leadership, or supervisor role

• Minimum holds or is working towards a diploma of ECEC, diploma of School Age Education and Care, or any relevant equivalent

• Thorough understanding of the National Quality Framework, including the National Law and Regulations, and the National Quality Standards

• Thorough comprehension of My Time, Our Place: Framework for School Age Care in Australia

• Outstanding knowledge regarding Child Protection, how to report, and how to support children and young persons within the OOSH setting

• Great English language skills including proficiency in written communication
