Join Box Hill Institute's Music & Creative Industries team as Academic Course Manager - Music Industry and play a pivotal role in shaping innovative, industry-connected higher education programs that deliver outstanding student outcomes.

The Academic Course Manager is a key leadership position within the College of Higher Education, responsible for driving curriculum excellence, industry engagement, academic quality, and strategic growth within our Music programs. This role offers the opportunity to influence course design, lead curriculum renewal, manage world-class studio facilities, and strengthen partnerships across Melbourne's vibrant music sector. It also includes a 0.4 EFT teaching load, allowing you to remain connected to students while influencing the future of contemporary music education.

This is a full-time, fixed term opportunity until 31 December 2027. Attractive remuneration is dependent on qualifications & experience.

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Department, the Academic Course Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across Box Hill Institute's Music programs. The role is pivotal in shaping the future of contemporary music education, with direct influence on course design, industry engagement, and student success. Importantly, this position also carries a 0.4 EFT teaching load, enabling you to remain connected to students and classroom practice while driving academic outcomes.

You will play a key role in leading the redevelopment of the Bachelor of Music Industry, ensuring programs remain innovative, relevant, and aligned to the evolving needs of the music and creative industries. Working closely with academic staff, students, industry partners and key stakeholders, you will drive curriculum excellence, foster growth opportunities, and strengthen our reputation as one of Melbourne's leading music schools.

What you'll do:

• Lead the redevelopment, review and continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Music Industry and related programs.
• Drive curriculum innovation that reflects contemporary industry trends, emerging technologies and student needs.
• Manage and optimise world-class music production and studio facilities.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with music industry organisations, employers, alumni and professional networks.
• Develop pathways and opportunities that enhance graduate employability and industry engagement.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing academic team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and innovation.
• Oversee academic quality, compliance, governance and accreditation requirements.
• Manage business plans, budgets and strategic initiatives that support program growth and sustainability.
• Champion engaging, student-centred learning experiences that deliver exceptional educational outcomes.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of academic leadership, industry expertise and commercial acumen, together with a passion for contemporary music education.

To be successful, you will have:

• AQF Level 9 qualification (Master's degree) or significant equivalent academic and/or industry leadership experience.
• Proven experience leading teams within higher education, vocational education, creative industries or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, course development and academic quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of higher education governance, compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience in Studio Production, Live Events and Music Production.
• Established industry networks and strong connections within the music and creative industries.
• Demonstrated success in business development, partnership building and industry engagement.
• Experience driving innovation, curriculum renewal and strategic growth initiatives.
• Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance development and change leadership.
• Passion for creating exceptional student experiences and improving graduate outcomes.
• Alignment with a child-safe, inclusive and values-based workplace
• Have, or be willing to obtain, Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
