Firesafe Group Pty Ltd are a leading provider of fire protection systems to the Construction, Mining, Resources and Government sectors in Western Australia.

Our design section utilizes AutoCAD, REVIT and Hyena technologies to produce the full suite of construction-relevant drawings.

Firesafe provide all aspects of fire protection, including Wet fire sprinkler systems, water mist and deluge, Special Hazard Foam and gas suppression systems, and Dry fire alarm and detection systems.

The role

Firesafe are looking for a Design Engineering Team Lead to assist the Design Manager in the design of various fire systems. This permanent full time role will be based in our Head Office in Bibra Lake.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Produce hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pipe supports, drawings and fabrication sheets in line with the appropriate standards, scope of work and constructability to a very high standard, and review the work of junior design-team members to promote ongoing improvement

• Ensure all completed designs are checked for accuracy prior to issuing

• Accept and complete training opportunities when offered

• Relay concerns relating to projects to Design Manager for review and consultation

• Attend and participate in weekly & monthly Design meetings

• Attend site meetings/client meetings when required

• Cooperate with consultants and 3rd Party Certifiers with regards to achieving technical approvals

• Mentor and train junior design-team members in areas of your expertise ie: Software, Standards compliance, Safety in Design, calculations, constructability etc

• Provide coverage for Design Manager during absences (Design Manager RAS will then apply)

Skills and Experience

• You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or at least 4 years of recent experience successfully designing fire sprinkler systems

• Highly motivated and able to meet strict client deadlines

• You’ll be able to demonstrate your experience delivering designs with a high degree of constructability

• Knowledge of the AU codes and REVIT experience is essential

• Experience with other design software packages will be advantageous.

• Great communication skills that allow you to work effectively with both clients and co-workers

• Construction White Card

• Eligibility to work and reside in Perth, Western Australia
