About the role
Outloud is an award-winning, intersectional, youth-led arts organisation that has championed creative social change in Western Sydney since 1987. Based on Darug land with deep roots in Bankstown, Outloud works with professional artists and service providers to support local young people to co-create impactful, culturally relevant art that speaks to their lived experiences, dreams and ambitions; helps them to understand, analyse, and have agency in social topics that affect them, like gender equality, identity, mental health, and community connection; and positions them as agents of change both within their own lives and in their communities. Working across music, theatre, visual arts and multimedia, our strengths-based programs build pride in their identity, confidence, self-efficacy and a sense of agency, alongside transferable life skills.
You likely know about us – our programs have been mentioned three times in the last two years in the NSW Legislative Assembly, we got 5 star reviews for our 2025 Sydney Festival work, or you might be one of the 100,000+ YouTube views we get annually on our music clips – our projects are joyful, catchy, and make a difference.
We’re looking for a values-driven CEO to lead our next chapter: growing our revenue and partnerships, championing youth-centred practice, and helping shape where a well-established, trusted and vibrant organisation goes next.
Supported by a General Manager, Creative Producer and Program Managers, you’ll focus on strategy, revenue, partnerships and sector influence, while a capable team runs the day-to-day program delivery. You’ll report to our Board and work alongside our Youth Advisory Group, Artistic Advisory Panel and Elder in Residence.
Relationship-first leadership. We strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of the communities we serve, including people from CALD/CARM backgrounds, First Nations people, people with disability, and LGBTQIA+ people.
Applications close: midnight on the closing date.
Please contact Melanie Carolan, General Manager, at melanie@outloud.org.au for a full Position Description. Then, send a cover letter (max 2 pages) addressing why this role and what you’d bring, your CV, and two referees to Melanie. Questions welcome before applying; email or call 02 9793 8324.
