Restaurant Manager

About the role

Capital Hotel Group is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our dining operations in Canberra, ACT. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to oversee all aspects of our restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery and profitability. As Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for creating memorable dining experiences whilst maintaining high operational standards and driving business growth. This role is pivotal in establishing our restaurant as a destination for quality dining within Canberra.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations including service delivery, table management, and customer satisfaction

• Lead, train, supervise and motivate restaurant and front-of-house staff to deliver exceptional service standards

• Manage budgets, costs, pricing and profitability targets for the restaurant operation

• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and health and safety compliance

• Plan and implement marketing initiatives to drive customer loyalty and increase revenue

• Manage inventory, ordering and supplier relationships to optimise costs

• Handle customer feedback, complaints and concerns with professionalism and resolution

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and quality control measures

• Collaborate with kitchen management to ensure menu standards and consistency

• Monitor financial performance through point-of-sale systems and reporting

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience in a similar venue size or larger

• Proven track record of successful team leadership and staff development

• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and P&L responsibility

• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences

• Knowledge of food safety standards, licensing requirements and health and safety regulations

• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and restaurant management software

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work under pressure during service periods and manage multiple priorities

• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to operational challenges

• Current hospitality qualifications or certifications (preferred)

• Experience in venue or function management would be advantageous
