About the role

Wagon Wheel Motel is seeking a Chef or Couple to join our team in Cloncurry, Queensland. Preference will be given to some Thai culinary experience.

This is a casual position offering flexibility for two culinary professionals to work collaboratively in a hospitality environment. Whether you're a couple looking to combine your culinary expertise or two chefs seeking to work as a team, this role provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills whilst enjoying the flexibility that casual work offers. The position is based in Cloncurry QLD 4824, where you'll be instrumental in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests and clientele.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking high-quality meals according to established recipes, menus and food safety standards

• Managing kitchen operations and maintaining a clean, organised and efficient cooking environment

• Coordinating meal preparation with your partner to ensure seamless service and consistent food quality

• Monitoring food stock levels and communicating ordering requirements to management

• Adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures

• Working collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate meal delivery

• Adapting to menu changes and accommodating special dietary requirements or guest requests

• Contributing creative ideas for menu development and seasonal specials

• Training and assisting junior kitchen staff as required

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a chef or cook in a professional hospitality setting

• Preferred Thai culinary experience.

• Strong culinary skills with the ability to prepare diverse cuisines to a high standard

• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and kitchen best practices

• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities in a fast-paced environment

• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as a couple or team

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and manage the demands of kitchen work

• Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and operational requirements

• Current food handling certificate or willingness to obtain one

• Relevant culinary qualifications or apprenticeship completion is desirable
