Waminda is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Drug & Alcohol Case Worker to join our Case Management team.

This role provides an opportunity to support Aboriginal women, families and community members impacted by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use to achieve improved health, wellbeing and recovery outcomes. Working within a culturally safe and trauma-informed framework, you will walk alongside clients as they navigate their recovery journey, access services, and strengthen connections to family, community and culture.

About the Role

As a Drug & Alcohol Case Worker, you will provide holistic case management and recovery-focused support to individuals and families experiencing challenges related to alcohol and other drug use.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering client-centred case management using trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive approaches.
• Conducting holistic assessments and developing individualised case plans that support recovery, wellbeing and personal goals.
• Providing advocacy, referrals and coordinated support across health, rehabilitation, housing, mental health, legal, employment, education and community services.
• Supporting clients through outreach, community-based and in-home service delivery where appropriate.
• Assisting clients to navigate treatment pathways, appointments and service systems.
• Building collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve client outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential case notes, records and reporting requirements.
• Supporting community education and health promotion activities that increase awareness of alcohol and other drug issues and recovery supports.

About You

You are a motivated and empathetic professional who understands the complexities of alcohol and other drug use and is committed to supporting people without judgement.

You will bring:

• Experience in alcohol and other drug services, community services, mental health, health care, social services or a related field.
• Experience working with individuals and families experiencing complex needs and vulnerability.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, harm minimisation, recovery-oriented approaches and client-centred support.
• Ability to engage, motivate and build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, advocacy and case coordination skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and documentation requirements.
• Commitment to professional boundaries, confidentiality and ethical practice.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate IV or higher qualification in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Social Work, Mental Health or a related discipline (or willingness to work towards).
• Current NSW Driver Licence.
• National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Knowledge of duty of care, safeguarding responsibilities and mandatory reporting obligations.
