As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the ATSICHS Housing service (Ngumpie Uruue) delivers a range of housing supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. One service is the Mari-Mari-Ba crisis accommodation facility for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children. The centre hosts 33 self-contained units in one location. The Overnight Support Worker responds to resident crisis and manages the needs and supports of resident’s after-hours. The role has a self-contained unit (and bed) for all shifts, and operates under an on-call arrangement, responding when residents require assistance or support.

COVID-19 Requirement
Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid -19 vaccine is encouraged.
Current Cert lll or lV or equivalent in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention, preferred or extensive experience with sound knowledge and skills in working with children and family issues.
OR
AND
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and their cultures, and a general understanding of the issues that are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society.
Experience in managing complex situations is sought after.
Demonstrated experience in working sensitively with women and children.
Demonstrated ability in responding to family crisis.
Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and deescalate volatile situations.
Ability to support and manage a continuous improvement model for achieving improved ways of working at JWH.
Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
