About the role
We are pleased to be partnering with Kaiser Reef to recruit an Underground Manager on a permanent basis for their Henty Gold Project in Tasmania to oversee all underground mining operations. The opportunity is offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster (ex-Melbourne). This is a senior leadership role responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and profitable mining outcomes while fostering a high-performance culture on site.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will bridge business objectives with operational execution. You will lead production, planning, and technical teams to optimise mine performance, ensuring targets across safety, cost, and production are consistently achieved. You will play a critical leadership role, representing the underground operation to both internal and external stakeholders while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day underground mining activities
Ensure resources, workforce capability, and planning align with production targets
Monitor and improve operational performance against cost and productivity metrics
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary underground mining team
Build a strong safety culture and high-performing team environment
Develop and execute production strategies, budgets, and life-of-mine plans
Oversee mine design, scheduling, and delivery of safe, efficient operations
Identify and manage risks, ensuring best-practice mining engineering standards
Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance
Liaise with regulators, contractors, and internal departments
Represent the underground operation within the broader business
Support cross-functional collaboration across geology, maintenance, and processing.
Key Requirements:
Minimum 8 years’ underground mining experience
Degree in Mining Engineering recognised in Australia
Post-grad degree in business or similar, highly regarded
Mine Managers certification
Ability to act as Site Senior Executive
Demonstrated contractor management experience
Strong technical and operational expertise in underground mining
Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Commercial acumen with a focus on cost and productivity optimisation
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
Manual C class driver’s licence.
