The Opportunity

ASD’s Governance Branch delivers and supports robust enterprise governance solutions that withstand shifts in ASD’s strategic operating environment and enable the effective operation of the agency. The branch sits within Legal, Compliance and Strategy Division, in Chief Operating Office Group.

Governance Director

An EL2 Governance Director is responsible for performing very complex work to influence and develop strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of ASD’s objectives, exercising sound judgement under broad guidance. You will provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders while leading and assuming accountability for very complex work or sensitive projects or work programs that have strategic or operational significance.

Responsibilities may include:

• Leading enterprise governance functions including organisational policy, corporate planning and reporting, committee secretariat and public access obligations.
• Setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
• Planning, leading and managing human and physical resources, and exercising associated human resources and financial delegations.
• Managing and leading a team, providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility, and guiding and developing your team.

Audit and Risk Director

As an Audit and Risk Director, you will be responsible for leading ASD's audit and risk function, performing very complex work to strengthen governance, risk management and assurance arrangements across the agency. Exercising sound judgement under broad direction, you will provide strategic advice to senior executives and stakeholders, lead a high-performing team, and assume accountability for complex audit, assurance and risk activities that have organisational and operational significance.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing independent assurance and advice on risk management, governance and internal controls.
• Developing and delivering the Annual Assurance Work Program, including monitoring budget and expenditure, tracking recommendations and outcomes of both internal and external audits, and providing quality assurance in draft and final audit reports.
• Identifying implementation risks and coordinating reporting to internal committees in line with reporting requirements.
• Planning, leading and managing human and physical resources, and exercising associated human resources and financial delegations.
• Procuring audit services and coordinating the delivery of internal audit services.

Information and Records Management Director

As the Information and Records Management Director, you will be responsible for leading ASD’s information governance and records management function, performing very complex work to support the effective management of information and accredited recordkeeping systems across the agency. Exercising sound judgement under broad direction, you will provide strategic advice to senior executives and stakeholders, influence organisational practices, and lead a team to strengthen information governance, legislative compliance and enterprise capability.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring compliance with the Archives Act 1983 and other relevant legislative and regulatory obligations, and building a culture where information is recognised as a strategic asset.
• Planning, leading and managing human and physical resources, and exercising associated human resources and financial delegations.
• Driving enterprise-wide information governance capability.
• Influencing senior executives and business leaders to embed good information management behaviours.
• Balancing governance, risk and operational effectiveness in a highly secure environment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

Governance Director

• Experience in enterprise governance functions.
• Sound judgement, experience in leading very complex work programs, managing competing priorities, and building productive relationships to achieve organisational outcomes.
• The ability to influence stakeholders and provide strategic advice.
• Experience developing, implementing and reviewing governance frameworks, policies and processes.
• Experience leading and managing high-performing teams.

Audit and Risk Director

• Experience in audit and assurance practices, with government experience highly desirable.
• Experience leading teams undertaking very complex audits, reviews or assurance activities.
• Experience applying legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks in a complex environment, with the ability to strengthen governance practices, develop risk mitigation strategies and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Information and Records Management Director

• Experience in information and records management, preferably within a records management leadership role.
• Knowledge of, and experience applying, relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience working across a broad range of business areas.
• A strong understanding of information governance principles and records management practices, including the ability to provide strategic advice, drive continuous improvement, support digital transformation initiatives, and promote effective information stewardship.
