About the role
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family, Domestic Violence and Homelessness Case Worker
Women Up North Housing Inc. (WUNH)
Women Up North Housing Inc. (WUNH) is seeking a passionate and culturally grounded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family, Domestic Violence and Homelessness Case Worker to join our team at our Ballina Road office and Bugalma Bihyn Aboriginal refuge.
This is an opportunity to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and/or homelessness, providing culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based support.
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of culture, connection, self-determination and Aboriginal ways of working, and who is committed to supporting women and children to achieve safety, stability and positive outcomes.

Your responses should provide practical examples wherever possible and demonstrate your understanding of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness.

C1: Capacity to develop relationships, and work collaboratively and cooperatively, in order to engage with local communities, other organisations and the housing sector.
C2: Current and /relevant skills experience and or education in social /science or welfare.
C3: Demonstrated experience in case co-ordination of Aboriginal women and children with complex/multiple housing and support needs such as DFV and health issues.
C4: Capacity to work and advocate from the values of social justice and the promotion of self- determination which is inclusive and supportive of all clients regardless of religion, marital status, sexuality or cultural background.
C5: Demonstrated evidence in person-centred practice; working collaboratively and cooperatively with clients to support client outcomes.
C6: Evidence of reliability, teamwork, and capacity to work within and across the WUNH Inc. and Refuge team environments.
C7: Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working in and provision of a culturally safe environment.
C8: Excellent communication skills, particularly in the areas of negotiation, facilitation, mediation and problem-solving, with demonstrated proficiency in using databases and workplace applications, including customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
C9: Good organisation skills, evidence of ability to work independently, use initiative and complete work within agreed upon time frames.
C10: Documented evidence of current Driver’s License and willingness to maintain and or acquire Working with Children Check, Criminal Records Check, and CPR and First Aid Certificates.
