About us:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers operate within a delegated model of care. Health Workers are required to meet competency levels appropriate to the work that they are employed to undertake. Depending on the level of employment, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers may have responsibility for the management of other Health Workers. The Senior Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (HW3) practises predominately with indirect supervision while assisting with the care of recipients of healthcare services as delegated by the registered nurse/registered midwife and seeks assistance and support in their decision making from a registered nurse/registered midwife / Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Cluster Coordinator.

This position reports operationally to the Clinical Nurse Consultant and professionally to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Cluster Coordinator 

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…..

• Delivery of core primary health care programs such as maternal, youth and child health and/or chronic disease education, prevention, detection and management and screening activities according to the needs of the whole community and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in a confidential and non-judgemental manner.
• Undertake administrative tasks, restocking the outreach vehicles, fuelling the vehicle and maintenance of data and record management.
• Actively participate in a healthy working environment by supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, diversity, inclusive service provision, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
• Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation by using established guidelines and programs.
