About the role

Bendigo Tyre & Auto Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our team in Bendigo, VIC. This is a full-time position based at our Bendigo location (VIC 3550). As a Mechanic, you will be at the heart of our operations, providing high-quality vehicle maintenance and repair services to our valued customers. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring our customers' vehicles are safe and roadworthy.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate testing equipment and procedures

• Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and general inspections

• Conduct brake system repairs and maintenance, including pad and rotor replacement

• Repair and replace suspension components, including shock absorbers, springs and steering components

• Service and repair engine components, including spark plugs, timing belts and gaskets

• Perform wheel alignment and balancing services

• Use diagnostic tools and computer-based systems to identify and resolve vehicle issues

• Keep detailed records of work completed and maintain accurate job documentation

• Communicate effectively with customers about repair requirements and costs

• Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment in compliance with health and safety standards

• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient service delivery

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification as an automotive mechanic, or equivalent demonstrated experience in automotive repair and maintenance

• Current driver's license and willingness to test drive vehicles when necessary

• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle management systems

• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension and electrical systems

• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, workshop manuals and diagnostic reports

• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks involving lifting, bending and working in confined spaces

• Reliability and punctuality

• Previous experience in a busy workshop environment is preferred
