Part-Time & Casual Opportunities
Darling Group’s Functions & Events team is growing, and we’re looking for experienced Event Managers and Event Supervisors to lead the delivery of exceptional events across some of Melbourne’s most distinctive venues.
From weddings and private celebrations to corporate functions, cocktail parties and large-scale events, you’ll have the opportunity to work across Higher Ground, The Terrace and The Observatory at Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, as well as events throughout the wider Darling Group portfolio.
This is a hands-on leadership role for hospitality professionals who love being on the floor, leading a team and making sure every detail comes together.
You’ll be the person leading the room — briefing the team, coordinating service, liaising with clients and chefs, troubleshooting in real time and ensuring every event is delivered to an exceptional standard.

As an Event Manager or Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of the on-the-day delivery of functions and events.
Depending on the size of the event, you may lead the entire function or work alongside a senior Event Manager as part of a larger team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing event orders, run sheets and service requirements
Managing event set-up and ensuring the venue is presentation-ready
Conducting pre-service briefings and allocating team responsibilities
Leading teams of event waitstaff and bartenders throughout service
Coordinating food and beverage timing with chefs, kitchen and bar teams
Acting as a key point of contact for clients and event hosts
Managing guest requests and resolving issues quickly and professionally
Maintaining exceptional service and presentation standards throughout the event
Overseeing beverage service and RSA compliance
Managing room resets, event transitions and pack-down
Completing event close and operational handovers
Above all, you’ll set the tone for the team and make sure both our guests and clients feel that their event is in capable hands.
About YouWe’re looking for confident hospitality leaders who know how to run a great service and enjoy the energy of events.
You’ll ideally have:
Previous experience supervising or managing functions, events, weddings, banquets or high-volume hospitality
Experience leading and motivating hospitality teams during service
Strong food and beverage knowledge
Confidence managing event timelines and service flow
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
A polished, professional and guest-focused approach
The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and high presentation standards
Availability to work evenings and weekends, particularly Fridays and Saturdays
A current Victorian RSA
You’ll be someone who notices the details, communicates clearly and isn’t afraid to get involved wherever needed to make an event successful.
