180 Markets | Elsternwick, MelbourneDuration: 12 weeksCommitment: 12 hours per week across 3 daysLocation: In-office, ElsternwickType: Unpaid InternshipPotential Outcome: 1–2 employment opportunities at the completion of the programAbout 180 Markets180 Markets is an Australian investment platform focused on connecting investors with opportunities in the ASX capital markets.We work extensively across the junior, micro and small-cap end of the ASX, providing investors with access to capital raisings and investment opportunities while working closely with listed companies, brokers, advisers and other market participants.Our team has extensive experience across investing, equities and capital markets, making this internship an opportunity to gain practical exposure to how the Australian small-cap market operates.The InternshipWe are looking for ambitious university students with a genuine interest in financial markets, investing and the ASX to join our 12-week Junior Intern Analyst Program.This is a hands-on internship designed to provide practical experience in equity research, investing and capital markets.The position will support the investment team by gathering and analysing data on ASX-listed micro and small-cap companies, including reviewing capital raise documentation, ASX announcements and company financials.Interns will work closely with our senior analysts and directors to help identify, evaluate and monitor potential co-investment opportunities and current transactions.Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:• Gathering and analysing financial and market data on ASX-listed companies• Reviewing company financial statements, ASX announcements and capital raising documentation• Researching micro and small-cap companies, industries and market trends• Assisting with the preparation of company and investment research reports• Identifying and tracking key company catalysts and market developments• Assisting in the evaluation and monitoring of current and potential co-investment opportunities• Working with and learning the 180 Markets platform• Preparing presentation and investment materials• Maintaining and improving internal company and investment databases• Supporting senior analysts and directors with deal and company analysis• Contributing to internal investment meeting notes and documentation• Assisting with process improvement initiatives to support efficient deal executionYou will be working with real companies, real market information and an experienced team operating in Australian capital markets.What You Will LearnOur goal is that by the end of the 12-week program, you will have developed a strong practical understanding of the junior, micro and small-cap end of the ASX and the fundamentals of equity research and capital markets.You should leave the internship with a much stronger understanding of:• How the ASX and Australian equity markets operate• Share trading and investing fundamentals• How to research and analyse an ASX-listed company• How to interpret financial statements and company announcements• How investors assess potential investment opportunities• Micro and small-cap investing• How ASX-listed companies raise capital• Placements, IPOs and other capital raising structures• How professional investors identify and track company catalysts• The role of data and research in investment decision-making• How capital markets transactions progress from opportunity through to executionMost importantly, you will gain exposure to what working in the Australian equities and capital markets industry actually looks like.Who We're Looking ForThis opportunity is designed for university students interested in building a career in finance, investment management, equity research, stockbroking or capital markets.Students studying finance, commerce, economics, accounting, business, data/analytics or a related discipline are encouraged to apply.We’re looking for people who are:• Genuinely interested in the stock market and investing• Curious about companies and what makes a good investment• Analytical and comfortable working with numbers and data• Strong users of Excel or willing to develop their skills quickly• Detail-oriented and capable of working independently• Proactive, commercially minded and eager to learn• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment• Interested in the junior end of the ASX and Australian capital marketsYou don't need to arrive as an expert. We are looking for people with the curiosity and work ethic to become one.Where This Can LeadThis program is not only about providing experience.
