Role Description:
Reporting to the HPA IPT Lead, you will Develop and manage System requirements, models and documents (System and Subsystem Specifications, Product Breakdown Structure, Design Documents, component specifications, interface specifications, verification plans and procedures, analysis reports, etc.)
You will undertake System Engineering activities in compliance with BAE Systems Engineering Lifecycle as specified in the Business Management System (BMS). Specifically: requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests, acceptance tests and certification.
Core Duties:
Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its componentsUse domain, discipline and Systems Engineering understanding to ensure enabling, supporting and delivered products robustly and demonstrably meet their requirements and are fit for purposeDevelop work statements and technically manage suppliersParticipate in ensuring that the design meets all statutory regulatory requirementsDevelop and execute system tests and agree component tests which will ensure that the implemented designs conform to their specificationsMaintain the design and its documentation in accordance with the applicable configuration management, change management and traceability processesProvide Engineering status and metrics reportingDevelop an understanding of the application of the BAE Systems Australia Business Management System (BMS) engineering process
Essential Skills:
A University degree level engineering qualification preferably within a Systems, Electronics, or Mechatronics disciplineDemonstrated systems engineering experience coupled with engineering experience in a relevant disciplineChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or INCOSE CSEP certified (desired)Good understanding of Systems Engineering practices and Engineering methods as applied to the development of military equipment and servicesExperience in effective use of Engineering Process, Methods, Tools and InfrastructureProven ability to function confidently within a project team environment with demonstrated problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomouslyAbility to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverablesDefence security clearance NV1 or eligibility to obtainEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations

The High Frequency Sensing team is part of the BAE Systems Defence Delivery Business Unit and delivers advanced Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) capability across the full lifecycle, spanning acquisition, sustainment and research and development – with all design wholly undertaken within Australia. It brings together expertise in large and medium scale wide area surveillance systems to support sovereign capability and operational readiness for Australian and international export customers. It is an exciting time to join the team with major upgrades occurring for Australian and US customer systems, evolving sustainment focus to ensure capability readiness for the Australian Defence Force customer, and mobilisation of a major export acquisition program to Canada, as well as future growth opportunities constantly on the go. Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and Arctic Over The Horizon Radar
The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.
