About the role
The Planning Studio are a small town planning consultancy supporting government, the private sector and communities in ‘joining the dots’ between people, places, policy and projects to build equitable, connected, sustainable and generous places.
About the RoleWe're looking for a proactive, enthusiastic person with minimum 5+ years’ experience to help build our statutory and strategic planning service offering for both private and government clients. The role is an exciting opportunity to work within a small, high performing team working for a range of clients across NSW.
Responsibilities and duties required include:Undertake a range of projects providing statutory, strategic and land use planning expertise and providing practical and expert advice to clients and project teams.Prepare and/or manage the preparation of high-quality reports adhering to The Planning Studio’s quality assurance practices.Ability to attend and represent The Planning Studio as a staff member at client and consent authority workshops/meetings and provide advice on projects. Management and prioritisation of competing deadlines, alerting Directors where capacity issues are foreseeable.
About YouWe're looking for someone with a successful track record contributing to the development and delivery of high quality and cost-effective statutory and/or strategic planning projects and programs. The successful applicant will have experience in setting their own priorities, whilst working with others to deliver effective planning outcomes with government and private clients.
Essential skills and requirements for the role: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in town planning, social science, economics, or related fields/industry.Previous experience (minimum 5+ years) in the planning, design, coordination and delivery of statutory and/or strategic planning programs across a broad range of land uses and projects.Demonstrated ability to work within and lead in a team environment as well as adept at setting your own priorities and achieving project deliverables.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the writing and delivery of statutory and/or strategic planning reports and communications materials.Attention to detail and strong analytical skills with a proven ability to investigate problems and develop appropriate responses through abstract thinking and using creative solutions.Ability to manage time, work to tight deadlines and be able to adapt to changing situations.Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Adobe Creative tools.Current Australian Working Visa, NSW Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check.
The following skills and experience are desirable but not essential: Previous New South Wales local and/or state government experience.Meeting and workshop facilitation assistance or management.
