About The Role

Nbryo is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and experienced scientist or biomedical / biotechnology engineer, to deliver the development and commercialisation of our next embryo technologies. 

Reporting to the Head of Embryo Operations, the Embryo Production Specialist is responsible for delivering consistently high laboratory performance across all stages of bovine IVF production while contributing to a culture of scientific excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This role exists to ensure repeatable, high-quality embryo production outcomes, support research and development initiatives, trouble-shoot, and drive operational excellence through technical expertise, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.

This is a predominately on-site role, based in Freeway Office Park, Eight Mile Plains.

About You

To be Successful in the Role you will:

• Deliver Exceptional Embryo Production Outcomes by maintaining gold-standard performance across all stages of embryo production, ensuring work is executed with precision, consistency, and attention to detail while achieving established production and quality targets.
• Drive Scientific and Technical Excellence by applying strong scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot laboratory challenges, identify root causes of performance variation, and implement effective solutions that improve outcomes.
• Support Research and Development by contributing to the design, execution, evaluation, and implementation of R&D activities that improve laboratory processes, embryo quality, efficiency, and commercial outcomes.
• Enhance Data-Driven Performance by recording, monitoring, analysing, and interpreting laboratory performance data to identify trends, maintain quality standards, and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Foster a High-Performance Culture by demonstrating accountability, meticulous attention to detail, ownership of outcomes, and a commitment to continuous improvement while providing technical guidance and leadership within the laboratory team.
• Training of new technologies and upskilling working on the ground, across the world in the laboratories of our commercial partners and licensees to embed the new technologies.

You will possess:

• High level of technical ability in embryology
• Strong scientific reasoning and troubleshooting
• Thorough commercial awareness and business acumen
• Training and communication skills. 

Selection Criteria

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Sciences, Animal Science, Reproductive Biology, Biotechnology, Veterinary Science, or a related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications preferred. 

Experience:

• Preferably 5 or more years’ experience working as an embryologist in a commercial embryo production environment, with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience required.

• Demonstrated competency in:
• Oocyte handling and maturation
• IVF setup and sperm preparation
• Embryo culture
• Embryo assessment and grading
• Cryopreservation techniques
• Quality control and performance monitoring
• Embryo micromanipulation
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

Knowledge:

• Commercial bovine IVF production
• Understanding of life in a start up
• Continuous improvement theory
• Laboratory development and incorporating new technologies into laboratory functions
• Scientific method
• Product development.
