Assistant Director - Pregnancy

This senior-level role provides strategic leadership and oversight of the pregnancy portfolio, leading the planning, governance and delivery of evidence-based chronic disease prevention initiatives across the pregnancy continuum. The role drives system-wide improvement through strategic partnerships, research and evaluation, and provides expert advice to inform policy, program delivery and Government priorities, while ensuring effective governance, financial stewardship and leadership of the portfolio.

Your key responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the pregnancy portfolio (including pre-, post- and inter-pregnancy) with responsibility for the direction, planning and delivery of all programs of work, including oversight of governance and risk.
• Provide advanced level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary chronic disease prevention practice, with the ability to resolve complex service barriers, and promote culturally safe, clinically appropriate care.
• Lead the implementation of multiple chronic disease prevention projects and initiatives including the Supporting Healthier Pregnancies Initiative, ensuring implementation is evidence-based, coordinated, timely and aligned with program objectives.
• Lead and oversee research, monitoring and evaluation activities within the pregnancy portfolio, ensuring programs and initiatives are informed by contemporary evidence, best practice and continuous improvement principles.

• Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary chronic disease prevention practice, with the ability to resolve complex service barriers, and promote culturally safe, clinically appropriate care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team to realise organisational goals.
• Demonstrated ability to apply specialised level of knowledge, analysis, expertise and skills to the development of systemic and effective solutions to complex pregnancy-related preventive health policy challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic change through shaping policy reforms, operational changes, driving innovation and enabling quality improvement.
