About the role
The Preanalytics Team operates within THS Pathology at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania’s largest public pathology provider.
This team is essential to the smooth operation of pathology services, ensuring that every sample is handled with precision and care from the moment it arrives.
The RoleJoin the Preanalytics team within Pathology, the vital gateway for all specimens received for testing. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring samples are accurately received, processed, prepared and transported for analysis.
Working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, you will assist with specimen reception, data entry, sample preparation, referrals to interstate and international laboratories, equipment maintenance, quality improvement activities, and maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and cleanliness.

Details of appointmentFixed term, full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately 12 months.
AND
Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately 12 months.
*Please note that during the first 12 weeks of employment, you will be required to work full-time hours to complete your onboarding and training program.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary$76,849 to $82,996 pro rata per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

An Associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an *equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work OR relevant training and/or experience determined in accordance with the provisions of Section 37 of the State Service Act 2000
