About the role
Bradfield Fitouts / JDP Sheetmetal is seeking an experienced CAD Draftsperson to join our team.
This is a hands-on drafting role covering two key areas of our business:
● Custom stainless steel fabrication and commercial kitchens
● Commercial joinery and shopfitting
Key Responsibilities
Stainless Steel & Commercial Kitchens
● Produce detailed SolidWorks shop drawings for custom stainless steel fabrication.
● Prepare drawings for commercial kitchen equipment including:
● Stainless steel workbenches
● Sink benches and wet benches
● Exhaust hoods
● Wall shelving and overhead shelving
● Refrigerated displays
● Hot and cold food displays
● Fish, butcher and deli displays
● Stainless steel wall cladding
● Custom fabricated kitchen equipment
● Produce accurate fabrication drawings including dimensions, folds, returns, cut-outs and construction details.
● Prepare sheet metal flat patterns and DXF files suitable for CNC fibre laser cutting.
● Liaise directly with our stainless steel fabricators to ensure drawings are practical and ready for manufacture.
Commercial Joinery & Shopfitting
● Produce detailed shop drawings for:
● Commercial counters
● Service counters
● Cabinetry
● Display units
● Wall and overhead joinery
● Feature joinery
● Hospitality and retail fitouts
● Prepare drawings suitable for CNC manufacturing.
● Interpret architectural, interior design and construction drawings.
● Develop construction details, dimensions, materials and finishes.
● Coordinate drawings with site dimensions and other trades where required.
Essential Requirements
● Strong SolidWorks experience is essential.
● Previous CAD drafting experience in stainless steel fabrication, sheet metal, commercial kitchens, joinery or shopfitting.
● Good understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
● Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
● Ability to produce accurate, detailed and practical shop drawings.
● Experience preparing DXF / CNC-ready files.
● Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
● Ability to communicate with workshop tradespeople, installers and project managers.
● Ability to manage multiple projects and meet manufacturing deadlines.
Highly Regarded
Experience across both stainless steel fabrication and commercial joinery will be highly regarded.
We are particularly interested in someone who understands that shop drawings need to work on the factory floor, not simply look correct on a computer.
