About the Opportunity

The WHS Inspector (Adelaide metro-based) is responsible for promoting and enforcing work health and safety and public safety standards across South Australia. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role engages with workers, employers and industry stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation through inspections, audits, investigations and incident responses.

 Key components of the role include:

• Conducting proactive and reactive workplace inspections, audits and investigations, including responses to notifiable incidents.

• Interpreting and applying WHS legislation and issuing statutory notices where required.

• Providing clear advice, education and guidance to promote safe, fair and productive workplaces.

• Managing cases, records and reports in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.

About the Business

SafeWork SA is a business unit within Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety, and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work health and safety responsibilities.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
