Nurse Team Leader – Your Best Life Disability and Health Services (YBLDHS)

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse ready to lead clinical governance and care quality across a complex disability service? YBLDHS is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to work within the Independent Living (YBLIL) business unit and drive safe, high-quality, person-centred care for clients with complex disability, health, behavioural and psychosocial needs.

About the role

This is a pivotal leadership position with two key focus areas: overseeing the clinical and care governance system across multiple Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses and overseeing individual client care. You’ll hold direct line-management responsibility for our Disability Support Workers (DSWs). This includes supervision, performance, capability and development, while drawing on the YBLIL Manager and HR Manager for support on formal employment matters. You’ll also deliver hands-on nursing care and training where funded under a client’s NDIS/NIISQ plan. YBLDHS operates within a well-supported organisational structure with dedicated specialist functions for rostering, HR, finance, community engagement, WHS, policy, CRM and tenders, so you can focus on clinical leadership rather than administrative overload.

What you’ll do

• Lead clinical governance: develop and embed safety and quality systems that meet NDIS Practice Standards (including High Intensity Supports), sit on the Quality and Care Governance Committee, and support audits and accreditation.
• Oversee client care: review clinical recommendations and care plans, oversee medication management, and identify and respond to deteriorating client presentations to help avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
• Manage your workforce: act as direct line manager for DSWs: supervision, coaching, training, and annual Performance Planning and Reviews, fostering a respectful, accountable team culture.
• Drive operational excellence: provide day-to-day clinical leadership across SIL, SDA and community-based settings, and ensure effective use of the CRM (Flow Logic) and rostering systems.
• Engage stakeholders: build strong working relationships with participants, families, regulators (NDIS Commission, NDIA, NIISQ) and allied health partners.

About you

• Current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse, with 1 – 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Nurse Consultant or Senior Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar clinical governance role within health and/or disability services.
• Strong knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, clinical governance, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.
• Proven people-leadership skills, with experience managing performance, capability and workforce culture.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.
