Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced APS4 Debt Recovery and Compliance Officer to join their team in Perth. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex debt recovery and compliance activities within a high-profile government environment.
The successful candidate will work with a high level of independence, applying legislation, policy and established procedures to support effective debt recovery and compliance outcomes. The role requires strong judgement, analytical capability and the ability to build productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Lead, coordinate and manage complex debt recovery actions.
• Conduct and report on debt recovery activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policy and Commonwealth standards.
• Manage debt recovery processes, including intelligence products, stakeholder communication and negotiation.
• Apply legislation, policies, procedures and compliance tools to complex matters requiring interpretation and analysis.
• Liaise with debtors, internal and external stakeholders, legal practitioners, clients and partner agencies.
• Prepare clear and concise advice to support decision-making and compliance outcomes relating to recovery activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve work practices and strengthen controls.
• Monitor changes in the broader operating environment that may impact work objectives.
• Manage and develop relationships with stakeholders to support team and organisational outcomes.
Experience/requirements
• Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a Baseline security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience in debt recovery, compliance, regulatory, financial or similar environments.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures and established frameworks to complex matters.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and deliver high-quality work requiring minimal revision.
• Sound judgement and the ability to make decisions in accordance with regulations, best-practice principles and established procedures.
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise advice.
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• An understanding of the Australian Government environment and relevant Commonwealth standards will be highly regarded.
