Internal Expression of Interest – Generalist Counsellor
Based at South Melbourne, with work across additional BHN sites as required SACS Level 5 (pay point dependent on experience) Part-time, permanent position

We are seeking a Generalist Counsellor to provide high-quality, person-centred counselling and outreach support to individuals, couples, children and families experiencing a range of psychosocial challenges.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a current BHN employee with strong counselling skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and a passion for supporting people to improve their wellbeing through accessible and responsive care.
In This Role You Will
Screening and comprehensive assessment of individuals, couples, children and families seeking counselling support Deliver evidence-based counselling interventions in a variety of settings Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans where required Support the development and delivery of therapeutic group programs Take a holistic approach to supporting clients' health and wellbeing needs Provide secondary consultation to internal and external health professionals Build strong connections with local health and community services to support coordinated care Maintain accurate client records, case notes and risk documentation Develop and implement appropriate referral and follow-up strategies to support client outcomes Collaborate with the Counselling team and other Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs and Gambler’s Help teamsParticipate in team activities, training, meetings and program accountability requirements.
About You
You will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing and/or accreditation as a PACFA or ACA Counsellor Current registration with AHPRA, AASW, PACFA or ACA, as applicable Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions across individual, family and group settings Experience delivering interventions for parents, children and young people across a variety of settings Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Sound professional judgement and the ability to work within relevant ethical and professional frameworks [ Knowledge of contemporary counselling and group work approaches
Desirable
Postgraduate qualifications in counselling and/or Family Therapy
