About the role
Join Australia’s leading cancer charity and help us shape the future of cancer care!
Cancer Council Australia is the nation’s leading non-government cancer control organisation, focused on reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and support. We work alongside the community, health professionals, and government to provide trusted information and services to those affected by cancer. With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.
We are now seeking an experienced Project Officer to play a critical role in supporting the governance, integrity and transparency of the National Cancer Navigation Service Program. Working within the Program Management Office (PMO), you will contribute to the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of assurance and controls frameworks that support delivery of a complex, multi-jurisdictional national program. The role sits at the intersection of project delivery, risk management and governance, helping ensure the Program meets its contractual, financial, compliance and reporting obligations.
You will work across multiple workstreams and partner closely with program leadership, delivery teams, procurement, legal and risk stakeholders.
You are detail-oriented, analytical and comfortable working in environments where governance, compliance and accountability are critical. You understand how large programs operate and are motivated by creating structure, clarity and transparency. You enjoy working in structured environments, improving systems and processes, and contributing to well-governed, high-impact national initiatives.
You are proactive and solutions-focused, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will help embed strong foundations for program oversight while supporting the practical realities of delivery.
Cancer Council Australia is here for all Australians affected by cancer. We actively promote and foster a working environment that values diversity, difference and inclusion. As we strive to achieve our vision of a cancer free future, we welcome and actively encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD, LGBTQIA+ peoples and people living with a disability.
At Cancer Council Australia, you don’t just join a team, you join a movement. As a non-profit organisation, our mission is to prevent cancer, empower patients, and save lives. You’ll benefit from:
