High Voltage Testing and Commissioning Electrician

Due to this growth, multiple positions may be available for experienced High Voltage Testing & Commissioning Electricians seeking long-term opportunities within the industry.

We are seeking experienced High Voltage Testing & Commissioning Electricians to join our Adelaide-based team.

The position involves regular interstate travel and rotation-based project rosters, working across substations, renewable energy facilities, power generation, data centres and other high-voltage infrastructure throughout Australia.

Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

• Primary and secondary electrical testing and commissioning

• Operation of specialist primary and secondary test equipment, including Omicron, Doble and Megger systems

• Protection relay testing and secondary injection

• Primary injection testing

• High-voltage switchgear testing and commissioning

• Transformer testing and commissioning

• High-voltage cable testing and commissioning

• Earthing system testing

• Functional testing of protection, control and interlocking systems

• Protection scheme, intertrip and end-to-end testing

• Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT)

• Preparation and completion of test sheets, commissioning records and technical documentation

• Working within permit, isolation and access systems

• Liaising professionally with clients, engineers, OEM representatives and other contractors

• Coordinating testing and commissioning activities with construction and project teams

We are looking for electricians with genuine testing and commissioning experience who take pride in the technical quality and accuracy of their work.

You will have a strong understanding of electrical systems and be comfortable interpreting drawings, test procedures and technical information. You will be capable of working independently when required while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary commissioning teams.

Attention to detail, methodical fault finding and accurate documentation are particularly important within this role.

• Current unrestricted A Class Electrical Licence

• Demonstrated electrical testing and commissioning experience

• Experience working with high-voltage systems and equipment

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, protection drawings and technical documentation

• Experience using electrical test equipment and completing formal test documentation

• Current Construction Industry White Card

• Current First Aid, CPR and Low Voltage Rescue certification

• Minimum Class C Driver’s Licence

• Willingness to travel and work interstate project rosters

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and methodically troubleshoot electrical systems

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship, technical accuracy and site safety

• Protection relay testing and commissioning experience

• Primary and secondary injection testing

• Transformer diagnostic testing

• CT and VT testing and verification

• High-voltage cable testing and diagnostics

• Protection scheme, intertrip and end-to-end testing

• Fault finding and investigation of protection and control systems

• Substation testing and commissioning experience
