We require Mechanical Fitters for our Gearbox Fitting department - experience in gearbox refurbishment an advantage, but suitable candidates will be trained.

About the role
Due to an increase in work and with the future driving our need to expand our workforce, the Gearbox Refurbishment department is seeking experienced, skilled and motivated individuals to join our growing team. If successful, you will be working on a range of gearbox's including exciter gearboxes, slew drives, conveyor and mill drives of various sizes, as well as complex bucket wheel drives. Your role will entail all aspects of refurbishment, from the strip and assess stage, reporting, assembling of repaired gearboxes, as well as assembly of newly designed gearboxes which are manufactured 100% in-house within our Bassendean facility. All gearbox are tested on our 1MW or 3MW test beds or Non load tested depending on customer requirements. This presents an opportunity to learn about the relationship of speed, power and torque of industrial gearboxes when subjected to different loading scenarios.
Key responsibilities
Strip and assess gearboxes
Report on gearbox condition and refurbishment requirements
Assemble repaired gearboxes
Assemble newly designed gearboxes manufactured in-house
Test gearboxes on 1MW or 3MW test beds or conduct non-load testing depending on customer requirements
Work on a range of gearbox types including exciter gearboxes, slew drives, conveyor and mill drives, and bucket wheel drives
About you
Appropriate Australian or international Trade Certificates
Ability to read technical drawings
Ability to work in a team or autonomously
Excited to learn and to teach
A strong emphasis on safety and quality
Excellent problem solving abilities
Proof of experience as a Fitter
Experience in gearbox refurbishment an advantage, but suitable candidates will be trained
