About the role
Digital Fuel Productions (DFP) is looking for a talented and creative Video Producer / Editor to join our growing team in Melbourne.
DFP specialises in high-end automotive content, producing video, photography and interactive media for major automotive manufacturers and leading media outlets. Our work spans vehicle launches, media events, scripted product films, lifestyle content, training videos, social media campaigns, editorial content, live productions and photography.
Recent projects have taken us from the rugged tracks of the Flinders Ranges, K’gari Island and Victoria’s Big Desert, to major vehicle launches and media events across Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and other interstate capitals. One week we might be filming an off-road adventure in remote Australia, the next we’re producing premium studio content or covering a manufacturer launch event in the middle of the city. The variety is one of the things that makes working at DFP genuinely exciting - no two projects, locations or weeks are ever quite the same.
This is a full-time position with flexibility to suit project requirements. It is a genuine hybrid production role, combining filming, editing and creative storytelling. While editing forms a significant part of the position, you’ll also spend plenty of time on location capturing content alongside the rest of our production team.
Occasional weekend, overnight and interstate travel will be required, with days in lieu and other considerations provided as part of the role.
A genuine passion for cars and automotive culture is strongly preferred, as this is our world and the subject matter behind almost everything we create.
The RoleYou’ll be involved throughout the production process, from planning and filming through to editing and final delivery.
On production days you’ll work alongside our producers, DOPs and presenters to capture a wide range of automotive content. This may include vehicle launches, media drives, dealership training, commercial productions, interviews, events and lifestyle content.
You’ll regularly operate professional camera systems, gimbals, lighting and audio equipment, while helping ensure productions run efficiently and safely.
Back in the edit suite you’ll produce a diverse range of content including:
Event and launch coverage
Product walkaround and feature videos
Scripted and lifestyle automotive productions
Editorial and media content
Marketing and brand assets
Social media shorts and platform-specific edits
B-roll edit packages for media and marketing use
Dealer and staff training content
Storytelling is at the centre of everything we create. You’ll be expected to take a wide range of footage and craft it into engaging, compelling stories that satisfy the client brief while supporting the client’s objectives.
You’ll develop an understanding of each client’s style and tone, ensuring every project feels considered and unique rather than following the same formula.
A large part of the role involves reviewing interviews and vox pops, identifying key soundbites and themes, and shaping them into polished narratives. For scripted or presenter-led content, you’ll work closely with our production team to ensure every edit feels seamless and professionally finished.
Because you’ll also spend time filming, you’ll gain an understanding of how our productions are captured and learn to anticipate the coverage required to make the strongest possible edit. Likewise, your editing experience will help influence how you shoot, making you a stronger all-round content creator.
Meeting deadlines is critical. You’ll need to be organised, reliable and communicate clearly with the wider team to ensure projects move smoothly from initial brief through to final delivery.
We’re always looking for new ideas and fresh approaches. Whether that’s motion graphics, text animation, AI-assisted workflows or simply finding a better way to tell a story, creativity beyond the timeline is highly valued.
Our Workflow and EnvironmentDFP is a Mac-based studio, working on the latest Mac Studio and MacBook Pro systems. We invest heavily in modern equipment so our team is never held back by outdated hardware.
Our production kit includes RED cinema cameras, Canon mirrorless systems, DJI drones and gimbals, professional lighting and audio equipment, allowing us to deliver premium content across every project.
We’re constantly evolving our workflow and encourage our team to stay curious, keep learning and bring new ideas to the table.
