This is a full-time position, offering approximately 38 hours per week.Key Responsibilities· Preparation and production of quality bakery products as per Bakers Delight standards.· Ensure bread quality and range is up to standard and delivered in a timely manner to meet customer demands.· Maintain an effective relationship with all team members of the Bakery.· Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry productTasks Include:checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulationschecking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredientskneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goodspreparing pastry fillingsmonitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking timescoordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry productsglazing buns and pastries, and decorating with cream and icingoperating machines which roll and mould dough and cutemptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipmentTo be considered for this role, you need to be able to meet the following selection criteria:· Flexible availability to work across the 7 days of the week, which may include evening work and some public holidays (starting times can be as early as 12am)· Work in a fast-paced team environment and communicate with customers and staff· Portray a positive attitude· Complete duties as directed by your manager/supervisor· Abide by company policies and procedures at all times· Train, develop and supervise apprentices and staff in the Bakery Department· Maintain an effective relationship with all team members of the Bakery· Have an eye for detail· Have good numeracy and literacy skills· Have a sound knowledge of food handling and food safety· Ability to work in a fast-paced team environmentPrevious Bakers Delight or similar bakery experience would be an advantage. Day-to-day tasks include preparing doughs, baking bread, rolls, and cookies, and producing a variety of bakery items to company standards. The Baker is responsible for following recipes, monitoring ovens, ensuring product quality, and maintaining hygiene and food safety practices in the preparation and baking areas. The role also involves organizing ingredients, managing production schedules, and assisting with stock rotation and waste minimization. Collaboration with the team, occasional customer interaction, and adherence to health and safety regulations are essential parts of this position.QualificationsPractical experience in a bakery environment and familiarity with bakery operations.Skilled in baking techniques, including dough preparation, shaping, and oven operation.Competence in food preparation, including measuring ingredients, mixing, and handling products safely.Ability to produce a range of items such as cookies, pastries, and specialty baked goods.Experience baking different types of bread, with attention to texture, flavor, and presentation.Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and safe equipment use.Strong time management, reliability, and ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.Team-oriented attitude, clear communication skills, and a commitment to customer service.Previous bakery or commercial kitchen experience preferred; relevant certificates in food handling or baking are an advantage.
