About the role
Do you want to use your skills, leadership and cultural knowledge to help create lasting housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland?
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Housing Futures Program and contribute to a statewide initiative designed to strengthen Indigenous Community Housing Organisations (ICHOs) and support the growth of social and affordable housing.
Community Housing Futures is a collaboration between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Queensland (ATSIHQ), CHIA Qld and Q Shelter. Funded by the Queensland Government, the program supports community housing providers and Indigenous Community Housing Organisations to increase capacity, build partnerships and expand social and affordable housing supply across Queensland.
Employed by Q Shelter and hosted by ATSIHQ, the Sector Capacity and Engagement Specialist - First Nations will work with Indigenous Community Housing Organisations throughout Queensland to identify growth opportunities, strengthen organisational capability, support strategic partnerships and contribute to improved housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Working with ATSIHQ, Community Housing Futures partners and Indigenous Community Housing Organisations across Queensland, you will:
You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional who is passionate about empowering communities and strengthening the First Nations housing sector.
Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement that the successful applicant identifies as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

CHIA Queensland Established in 2014, CHIA Queensland is the independent industry body representing community housing providers (CHPs) in Queensland. CHIA Queensland is a member-based, non-profit company limited by guarantee. Our purpose is to lead and enable a diverse and dynamic community housing industry in Queensland.
Q Shelter is a peak body working on solutions to housing needs and homelessness. Q Shelter is the employing organisation and contract holder for the Community Housing Futures Program.
