Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation – Wollongong NSW
Illawarra Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experienced and people-focused HR Manager to support our growing organisation and workforce across multiple sites within our footprint.

Reporting to Chief Operations Officer, you will provide generalist human resources support across the organisation, partnering with managers and employees to deliver effective HR services and compliance support.
This role is based in Wollongong, with occasional travel required to other operational locations across the organisation’s footprint.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting workforce capability, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compliance, and HR administration.
Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to managers and staff
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes
Support employee relations and performance management matters
Maintain HR records, policies, and compliance documentation
Interpret and apply relevant awards and legislation, particularly:
SCHADS Award
Children’s Services Award / Childcare Award
Assist with workplace investigations and disciplinary processes where required
Support WHS, training, and workforce development initiatives
Contribute to building a positive and culturally safe workplace culture
Travel to other sites as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience in a generalist HR role
Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
Demonstrated experience interpreting the SCHADS Award and Childcare Award
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations or the community sector
Understanding of culturally safe workplace practices
Part-time position – 22.8 hours per week
$51 – $53 per hour (depending on experience)
