The Role

A vacancy has now arisen for a Seasonal Firefighting Team Member to join the Murray Valley team based in Tumut, NSW.

This role runs from October 2026 through to March 2027 and is part of a team responsible for supporting the NSW businesses through estate management including, fire preparedness, asset protection and forest health. The role requires a commitment to active fire risk management of a large and successful Pinus radiata plantation.

The Responsibilities 

• This person will be responsible for undertaking general forest management activities including: Fire response/standby, Weed spraying, Trail clearing, Pruning, Regen and wilding removal, Forest Health activities, Fencing and Signs.

• Pass a seasonal firefighter medical and fitness assessment.

• Undertake fire suppression and prevention activities as required.

• Participate in standby rosters, including on weekends and out of normal work hours.

• Flexible team player who thrives in fast-moving environments and can effectively prioritise multiple tasks.

Candidate Profile

• Proven skills and/or experience in forestry, farming or fire-fighting desirable and enjoys working outdoors.

• Ability to undertake programs of work and to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

• Computer skills – basic skills required plus able to use mobile applications and digital maps.

• Communications skills – both verbal and written and able to work well within the team and the wider community.

• Ability to actively prioritise workload, plan and meet deadlines.

Qualifications highly valued

• Nationally recognised fire-fighting qualifications (Bushfire/Wildfire)

• Chemcert AQF3

• Forklift High risk work licence

• Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training (VPIT)

• Medium Rigid drivers licence
