Best Hooper Lawyers is seeking a motivated Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our Planning Team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This role will support our planning and environment lawyers across document preparation, matter management, client communication, and VCAT/court-related work.

About the Role

Working closely with our solicitors, you will support a range of Victorian planning matters, with a strong focus on VCAT proceedings.

Key duties include:

• Preparing legal documents, correspondence, affidavits and submissions

• Managing and organising matter files

• Liaising with clients, councils, government agencies and statutory authorities

• Supporting lawyers with hearings, mediations, VCAT and court proceedings, including:
  - VCAT Applications
  - Tribunal books
  - Expert correspondence

• Providing general administrative to the Planning Team

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous legal or administrative experience, ideally in planning, property or environmental law

• Strong organisational skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage competing deadlines

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Experience with VCAT, court proceedings, councils or government agencies is highly regarded.

This role is suited to candidates with legal or administrative experience. We are not seeking applicants who are currently studying law.
