Welcome to Kimberley Calling - a groundbreaking initiative by CEWA that beckons you to empower and be inspired by students throughout Broome, teaching at your choice of 13 unique school destinations. CEWA's greatest need is for Early Childhood and Primary teachers, and Secondary specialist teachers in the fields of Physical Education, Art, Design Technology (Metal, Plastic, Wood work), Music, Home Economics and English at all Kimberley schools - note that Mathematics, HASS, Science and other academic specialist positions do arise at one location only: Broome (town). Successful applicants require a university degree (or equivalent) in Education, a sound understanding of planning curriculum in a school environment, an Australian teacher registration, and availability to work either: long term contracts of 12 months (or longer) / or short term relief contracts by school term (short notice opportunities) - apply and chat to us about your availability and career goals!

* Attention teachers with HELP / HECS debt: the Australian government currently has a policy in place to wipe out loan debt entirely for teachers who work 4 years in a remote location (candidates may work at different Kimberley school sites during the 4 year period). From this pool, Principals will directly appoint outstanding individuals for their unique schools and communities.

• Small class sizes, approx 10 - 15 students on average * applicable to all locations except towns Broome and Kununurra
• Teaching Assistant assigned to every class (for all Year groups including highschool) * applicable to all locations except towns Broome and Kununurra
• Accelerated long service leave accrual at twice the standard rate * applicable to all locations except Broome town
• Free Starlink internet streaming access in teacher housing * applicable to remote desert locations: Balgo, Billiluna, Mulan, Red Hill, Ringer Soak, Warmun

Remuneration

• $91,449 - $136,563 per annum base salary + Superannuation 12%
• Plus Annual bonus $5,000 - $20,000
• Plus Location allowance $3,534 - $10,786 per annum

Essential Requirements:

Before you apply for this job, you need:

• University degree in Education or equivalent: either Early Childhood, Primary or Specialist Subjects
• Registration confirmation from Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia - please conduct this process online via: TRBWA - note: candidates with teacher registration in a different Australian State (other than WA) may apply stating their NT, QLD, SA, NSW, VIC or TAS registration details, should you be successful in securing a position CEWA will guide you on how to register for mutual recognition with the TRBWA.
• Sound understanding of planning curriculum in a school setting either via worked experience or via university practicum. Note: early learning centre (non school) experience is not sufficient to qualify for this program - early childhood teachers must be capable of planning school curriculum for students aged from 3 years (Kindergarten) up to 8 years (Year 2)
• Be currently living in Australia or New Zealand - in 2026 and 2027 CEWA is assessing candidates already based anywhere in Australia or NZ. Should there be a shortage of candidates in these countries, candidates further afield will be considered however this is not required at present.
• Work rights in Australia, either permanent / or temporary with at least 9 months or longer remaining: when a vacancy arises schools require teachers who can commence work immediately - this means applicants must either be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or have temporary work rights on a short term visa with at least 9 months remaining before expiry (at the time of application). Only Early Childhood or Primary Teachers are considered for sponsorship, Secondary / Specialist Subject teachers are not eligible for sponsorship. Should an international candidate be hired, first they must commence work on a short term contract, then if performing well in the role and enjoying the outback lifestyle, then the school may sponsor the teacher with a view to permanent residency long term - note that the visa application process can take many months to complete through the Department of Home Affairs and therefore applicants need plenty of time remaining on their visa to cover the government processing period. For sponsorship candidates, CEWA will support candidates through the visa process and will cover the essential costs including immigration lawyer fees and base charges. Note: only schools in the more remote East Kimberley region will consider sponsorship, schools in the more populated West Kimberley area are not currently sponsoring due to having enough Australian applicants available at this time.

All applicants currently based outside of the State please wait to complete this process until after you arrive - this step can be actioned after job offer
