The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for Parliamentary Services Level 5 and Parliamentary Services Level 6 Systems and Infrastructure Administrator roles within the Cyber Security Branch.

The Information Services Division (ISD) delivers ICT services to DPS staff and users of the Parliamentary computing network and ICT facilities. Within ISD, the Network Security Operations section supports the secure, reliable and effective operation of ICT infrastructure services across on-site, data centre, virtualised, cloud and hybrid environments.

These roles will contribute to the administration, support and continuous improvement of DPS-managed infrastructure platforms, including server operating systems, compute, storage, backup, monitoring, virtualisation, cloud and hybrid infrastructure capabilities. The roles will support day-to-day operational services, incident and service request resolution, infrastructure refresh activities, and the transition of project outcomes into sustainable operational support.

The Systems and Infrastructure Administrator role will provide ICT systems and infrastructure administration support under limited direction, helping maintain reliable services, perform routine administration activities, support approved changes, contribute to documentation, and work collaboratively with technical teams, vendors and service providers.

The Senior Systems and Infrastructure Administrator role will provide senior technical support and advice across more complex infrastructure activities, including planning and coordinating changes, resolving complex incidents, supporting infrastructure migration and transition work, improving operational standards and procedures, and sharing technical knowledge across the team.

Who we are looking for in Systems and Infrastructure Administrator roles:

We are looking for motivated ICT professionals who can support the delivery of reliable, secure and well-managed infrastructure services for the Parliament. Successful candidates will be able to work effectively in a technical operations environment, balance business-as-usual support with project and transition activities, and contribute to strong service delivery outcomes.

As a Systems and Infrastructure Administrator (PSL 5), your key responsibilities will include:

• Provide ICT systems and infrastructure administration support across DPS-managed on-site, data centre, virtualised, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Support the deployment, maintenance and operational support of APH ICT infrastructure within agreed service levels, security requirements and operational standards.
• Perform routine system administration activities, including monitoring, patching, upgrades, backup and restore activities, access support and operational housekeeping.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and service requests, escalating complex issues where required.
• Contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles and continuous improvement activities.

As a Senior Systems and Infrastructure Administrator (PSL 6), your key responsibilities will include:

• Provide senior ICT systems and infrastructure administration support across complex on-site, data centre, virtualised, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Plan, coordinate and implement system and infrastructure changes in accordance with approved standards, change management processes and service requirements.
• Support infrastructure refresh, migration and operational transition activities, including Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, storage, backup, monitoring and related management capabilities.
• Investigate, analyse and resolve complex incidents, problems and performance issues, including working with vendors and service providers to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
• Contribute to infrastructure standards, automation, documentation, operational procedures and knowledge transfer to improve reliability, maintainability and security.

Job Specific Requirements:

• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
• Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications in ICT or a related computing field, or demonstrated relevant experience, are desirable.
• Experience or demonstrated capability in Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware/vSphere/ESXi, Linux, storage, backup and recovery, monitoring, data centre infrastructure, cloud or hybrid infrastructure administration would be highly regarded.
• The role may require participation in an on-call ICT support roster and occasional out-of-hours work to support operational requirements, project activities and parliamentary sitting periods.
