Casual - Administration Assistant

James Cook University (JCU) is seeing Expressions of Interest from organised, proactive and customer-focused professionals to provide administrative and operational support on a casual basis to the Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health in Mount Isa. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative team supporting rural and remote health education and student placements across North West Queensland. You will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the Centre while providing high-quality administrative support to staff, students and visitors.

What You Can Accomplish in the Role

In this role, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the Centre by:

• Assisting with the day-to-day administration of the Centre, including responding to emails, assisting with meeting room bookings, maintaining records and supporting general office operations.
• Supporting procurement activities by following up quotes, preparing requisitions, monitoring purchase orders and liaising with suppliers to ensure goods and services are delivered within agreed timeframes.
• Providing administrative support for Centre events, workshops and functions.
• Providing reception and administrative support during staff leave and lunch breaks, including flexibility to work until 5:00pm on rostered days.

What You Can Bring to the Role

You are an organised and adaptable administrator who enjoys working in a busy environment and takes pride in providing outstanding customer service to a diverse range of individuals and organisations.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in administration, customer service or office support.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience dealing with maintenance and procurement processes and dealing with suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work additional hours when required, including occasional late afternoons until 5:00pm.

Desirable

•       Experience with procurement processes, purchasing or finance administration.

•       Experience using different software systems.

•       Previous customer service experience.

About the Opportunity

This is a casual opportunity based at the Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health in Mount Isa. Hours may be up to 36.25 hours per week but will vary depending on operational requirements.
