About the Opportunity
NSW Health Pathology is seeking a proactive and solution-oriented Duty Supervisor to join our Central Specimen Reception team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic services.
In this role, you will contribute directly to patient care, work collaboratively with pathologists, scientists, technical assistants, and healthcare professionals to ensure the timely and efficient processing of patient specimens. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking, communication, organisation skills and have excellent attention to detail to help maintain the accuracy and integrity of our daily operations.
What you'll be doing
Perform a range of supervisory and technical tasks in the Central Specimen Reception Department by applying established methods and procedures, as directed. Duties include the supervision and delegation of specimen reception tasks and workflow, training of technical assistant staff, taking part in the initial data entry and processing of specimens, verification of specialised test results, preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols.
