Principal Project Officer, Aboriginal Priority Projects & Reform

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on
supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with
communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and
wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.

This is a prioritised role and applicants from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background will be given priority consideration.

About the role: 

The Principal Project Officer is integral to the Priority Projects and Reform Branch, providing comprehensive support and administration across all project phases. This role requires a proactive, adaptable professional, developing delivery plans, managing finances, identifying risks, and ensuring funding processes are embedded throughout the health system and our Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

About you:

• Offers strategic guidance and operational support to deliver impactful, culturally grounded projects. 
• Fosters collaboration to ensure transparency and accountability, and upholds the principles of self-determination, playing a crucial role in enhancing outcomes for Aboriginal communities and driving system-wide reform.
• Work flexibly across the Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Division to support other teams and divisional priorities as required, contributing, coordinating and leading to advance whole‑of‑division objectives.
• Cultural Knowledge and expertise including the ability to identify emerging issues, trends and potential risks that impact upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in project support and management.
