Senior Mental Health Clinician – Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program
Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS)
Fixed Term until July 2027 | Part-Time 0.6 EFT | PARKVILLE
The Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program is a specialist program within Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS), delivering specialised mental health care for young people for aged 12-25 years experiencing acute onset of deliberate self-harm, suicidal thoughts and/or suicide attempt(s) and may also present with a range of co-morbid health and well-being issues.
HOPE services provide clinical and psychosocial support for eligible people for a 3-month period. Contact with eligible young people occurs within 24-hours of referral and focus of care targets stressors that may have contributed to the person considering/attempting suicide and/or deliberate self-harm.
About Us:
Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.
PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. We exist to walk alongside young people, their families, carers, supporters and kin delivering care that is accessible, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and grounded in lived experience. Our service model is shaped by the voices of young people and their communities, and underpinned by a commitment to safety, equity, and continuous learning.
At PYMHWS, we are working with our community and partners to build in a future where all young people can access world-class mental health support, close to home. As we grow, we are looking for passionate, skilled, and visionary professionals to join us in shaping a new era of youth mental health in Victoria.
The Opportunity:
The Senior Mental Health Clinician role is part of the senior clinical leadership role within the HOPE Program at PYMHWS. The position supports advancing evidence-based, recovery-oriented and developmentally informed clinical practice across the HOPE Program working in close partnership with the HOPE Coordinator and Consultant Psychiatrist.
The senior role provides clinical expertise and support to the multidisciplinary staff through supervision, mentoring and education, and offers expert advice on clinical presentations, particularly in relation to young people experiencing psychosocial drivers impacting their mental health alongside holding your own caseload.
In line with the evolving nature of the service, the incumbent may be required to work flexibly across multiple sites.
Please review position description for further information about the role’s key responsibilities and requirements.
