OZMON Travel pty ltd This is a hands-on management role suited to an experienced travel professional who can effectively manage both the operational and commercial aspects of a small travel agency. Reporting to the Director, the Travel Agency Manager will be responsible for overseeing agency operations, managing travel products and pricing, maintaining supplier relationships, managing bookings and customer service, driving sales and marketing activities, and supervising staff.
The role will also contribute to the development of new travel products and services, including the planned expansion into small group tours within Australia and tours to Mongolia. Benefits Full-time, permanent employment with a salary of $80,000 – $90,000 plus superannuation depending on your experience. Task & responsibilities Organise and oversee the day-to-day operations of the travel agency, ensuring efficient, accurate and professional service delivery. Determine the agency's travel product mix, service standards and pricing, and develop purchasing and operational strategies to maintain competitiveness and profitability. Plan and implement sales, marketing, promotional and advertising activities to grow the customer base and achieve revenue objectives.
Manage and oversee travel bookings, reservations, itineraries and quotations, including international and domestic air ticketing, hotel bookings, car hire, and ticket and hotel refunds and exchanges. Develop and maintain strong relationships with airlines, accommodation providers, car hire companies, tour operators, wholesalers and GDS partners, including Amadeus. Maintain accurate booking and financial records, undertake budgeting and monitor revenue, operating costs and cash flow, and report business performance to the Director.
Establish and maintain customer service standards and personally manage escalated or complex travel enquiries and service issues. Recruit, train and supervise staff as the agency expands, and coordinate the allocation of duties and day-to-day activities within the team. Monitor travel industry trends, customer demand and market opportunities, and identify and recommend new travel products and services, including group tour opportunities within Australia and Mongolia.
Ensure agency operations comply with relevant travel industry requirements, consumer obligations, work health and safety requirements and company procedures. Qualification & experience Relevant qualification at AQF Diploma level or higher in Travel and Tourism, Business, Management or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated experience in travel agency management, supervision or a similar management role.
Strong knowledge of international and domestic air ticketing, hotel bookings, car hire, and ticket and hotel refund and exchange procedures. High level of proficiency in GDS platforms, preferably Amadeus, is required. Strong knowledge of travel products, booking procedures, reservations and travel services.
Strong commercial and organisational skills, including pricing, supplier coordination, sales planning and cost control. Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise, train and coordinate staff and manage day-to-day agency operations.
Strong computer skills and experience with travel booking, CRM and other relevant systems. Ability to work independently and take a hands-on approach in a small travel agency environment.
