Head Chef

About the role

As Head Chef at Juan Fifty Mexican Bar and Kitchen, you will lead our kitchen team and take responsibility for the consistent delivery of quality food, efficient service and a positive kitchen culture. This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who takes pride in their work, communicates openly and understands that strong kitchen management requires teamwork, fairness and accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Leading, supervising and training the kitchen team

• Maintaining consistent food quality, presentation and service times

• Managing food costs, stock control, ordering and wastage

• Preparing fair and commercially responsible kitchen rosters

• Maintaining food-safety, hygiene, allergen and cleaning standards

• Coordinating effectively with the owner, management and front-of-house team

• Reporting staffing, supplier, equipment and operational issues promptly

• Managing kitchen performance within approved budgets

• Attending all scheduled management meetings

• Providing reliable opening, closing and service handovers

About you

• Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• Excellent stock, ordering, costing and wastage-control experience

• A fair and consistent approach to staff rostering

• Sound knowledge of food-safety and allergen requirements

• The ability to remain organised during busy services

• A dependable, accountable and team-focused attitude

• Appropriate commercial cookery qualifications or equivalent experience
