Sheet Metal Fabricator

About the role
Total Insulation (Qld) Pty Ltd is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our Coopers Plains workshop.

This role is specifically focused on the fabrication of sheet metal cladding and components for the thermal insulation industry. We are looking for someone with good sheet metal skills who can fabricate accurately and efficiently for industrial and commercial insulation projects.

Experience within the insulation or lagging industry would be highly regarded; however, experienced sheet metal workers from similar fabrication backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate metal cladding for insulated pipework, ductwork, vessels, tanks and equipment

• Manufacture bends, elbows, tees, reducers, end caps, valve and flange boxes, removable covers and other insulation cladding fittings

• Fabricate from aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised and Zincalume sheet

• Operate workshop machinery including guillotines, folders, swagers, rollers and spot welders

• Measure, mark out, cut, roll, fold and form sheet metal accurately

• Develop and fabricate custom fittings and cladding from measurements, drawings and templates

• Work from job sheets, drawings and site measurements

• Maintain consistent quality and presentation of finished products

• Assist with material preparation and workshop organisation

• Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment

What we're looking for

●             Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication

●             Experience in thermal insulation cladding, lagging or industrial sheet metal work is highly regarded

●             Strong ability to operate folders, guillotines, swagers and rollers

●             Ability to fabricate pipe and equipment cladding and associated fittings

●             Good understanding of sheet metal developments and fabrication techniques

●             Ability to work with thin-gauge aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised and Zincalume materials

●             Ability to read drawings, take measurements and fabricate accurately

●             Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship

●             Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

●             Reliable, practical and willing to learn

●             Current driver’s licence preferred
