Drafting - Metal Fabrication (Construction)

Aluxium Metalworks is a Brisbane-based aluminium and metal fabrication company specialising in high-quality architectural metalwork, aluminium screens, gates, fencing, balustrades, handrails, custom fabrication and commercial project works.

We are growing and are looking for a Draftsperson to join our team. This role would suit someone who has strong drafting ability, can produce professional drawings and 3D renders, and also has the ability to assist with basic estimating and project take-offs.

The successful applicant will be involved in preparing drawings, renders and estimates for a range of aluminium and metal fabrication projects. You will work closely with our team to help turn site information, architectural drawings and client requirements into clear shop drawings, approval drawings and project pricing.

• Prepare detailed shop drawings and client approval drawings.

• Produce 3D renders for client presentations and project visualisation.

• Review architectural plans, site measurements and project specifications.

• Assist with material take-offs and basic estimating.

• Prepare quantities for aluminium extrusions, sheet, hardware, fixings and finishes.

• Work with the fabrication team to ensure drawings are practical and clear.

• Assist with revisions, design changes and project documentation.

• Communicate with project managers, builders and suppliers when required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong drafting skills, preferably within metal fabrication, aluminium, construction or architectural metalwork.

• Experience using drafting software such as AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar.

• Ability to create accurate 3D renders.

• Basic estimating or take-off experience.

• Good understanding of measurements, construction drawings and fabrication details.

• High attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Good communication skills.

• A practical mindset and willingness to learn.

• Experience with aluminium screens, gates, fencing, balustrades, handrails or façade elements.

• Experience working with builders, architects or commercial construction projects.

• Knowledge of powder coating, aluminium extrusion and fabrication processes.

• Work with a growing Brisbane fabrication business.
