Maintenance Handyperson / Housekeeper

About the role

Garden City Hotel Canberra is seeking Maintenance Handyperson and Housekeeper to join our team in Narrabundah. This is a casual / part-time position that plays a vital role in maintaining the appearance, functionality and cleanliness of our hotel facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring our guests enjoy a well-maintained and hygienic environment whilst supporting our operational teams to deliver exceptional service standards. This role is based on-site at our Narrabundah location.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks including minor repairs, painting, fixture replacement and upkeep of hotel facilities

• Conduct routine housekeeping duties including cleaning guest rooms, common areas, corridors and public spaces to the highest standards

• Inspect and maintain equipment, furniture and fittings, reporting any damage or maintenance issues promptly

• Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff in a timely and professional manner

• Stock and replenish cleaning supplies and materials as required

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of storage areas, maintenance areas and equipment rooms

• Follow health and safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment

• Work collaboratively with housekeeping and facility management teams to prioritise tasks

• Report any safety hazards or maintenance concerns to management

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in maintenance, housekeeping or similar hospitality roles

• Strong practical skills with tools and ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards

• Physical fitness and ability to lift, bend and stand for extended periods

• Reliability and willingness to work flexibly as part of a casual arrangement

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude

• Relevant certifications or qualifications in maintenance, hospitality or workplace health and safety are preferred
