Manufacturing Quality Manager

About the opportunity

Every product that leaves our Fabrication workshop carries the Benmax name, and we want someone who takes that seriously. We’re looking for an experienced Quality Manager to own the standards, systems and final sign off that keep our manufacturing output at the level we’re known for.

Leading a team of Quality Supervisors, you’ll hold accountability for maintaining our ISO 9001 accreditation and for the quality of everything we build. You’ll also be the primary point of contact for clients, third party inspectors and certification bodies, so confidence representing Benmax at every level matters.

This is a hands on leadership role. You’ll be close to the shop floor, setting consistent standards, product lines and production areas, and shaping the systems and reporting that keep our quality performance visible to the wider business.

You can expect to

• Lead and develop QA capability across the manufacturing business, keeping standards consistent in every production area
• Directly lead our Quality Supervisors, setting priorities, allocating coverage and holding the team accountable for delivery
• Own the quality management system end to end, including procedures, work instructions, and inspection and test plans
• Hold accountability for our ISO 9001 accreditation, including certification and surveillance audit readiness
• Run the internal audit programme and drive corrective actions through to verified close out
• Hold delegated authority to place work on hold, reject product and stop release where quality requirements aren’t met
• Act as the escalation point for quality disputes between production, project delivery, supply chain and clients
• Manage supplier and subcontractor quality, including incoming inspection requirements and vendor performance
• Define, measure and report on quality performance, including first pass yield, non-conformance and rework
• Own the client and third party inspection interface, including witness and hold points and handover documentation

What you’ll bring

Essential

• Proven experience leading a team, including direct management of personnel
• Deep working knowledge of ISO 9001, with genuine experience owning a certified quality management system
• Ability to set and enforce consistent quality standards across multiple production areas and product types
• Sound ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and inspection and test plans
• Internal Auditor certification in ISO 9001
• Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and holding a firm quality position under schedule and commercial pressure

Desirable

• Tertiary qualification in Quality, Engineering or a related discipline
• Lead Auditor certification in ISO 9001
• Trade or technical background in fabrication, welding or mechanical assembly
• Welding inspection qualification, for example AS 2214, CSWIP or AWS CWI
• White Card, Silica Awareness and Asbestos Awareness
